BRAHMS PCT-Q — lateral flow immunoassay for semi-quantitative determination of procalcitonin level.
In case of emergency hospitalization, as well as in reanimation and aggressive treatment departments, the need in early diagnostic of sepsis and its adequate therapy occurs every day. Today, therapeutic strategies exist which enable to reduce sepsis case fatality. That is why, fast and exact diagnosis of patients with assumption of sepsis and systemic inflammatory reaction is essential.
Among the newest biomarkers of sepsis, procalcitonin (PCT) is the most accurate for diagnostic. In case of infection with systemic effect, the level of PCT in blood rapidly increases (within 6-12 h).

Method characteristic:

- No special equipment and calibration is required
- Less than 0.2 ml of serum or plasma
- Semi-quantitative result – graded determination of PCT concentration (up to 0.5 ng/ml, from 0.5 to 2.0 ng/ml, from 2.0 to 10.0 ng/ml, above 10.0 ng/ml)
